Mrs. PRIYA BHANSALI, a Commerce Graduate from Madras University, is a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and has qualified in the Information System Audit Examination conducted by ICAI. She is a Woman Independent Director on the Board of Listed Companies. She was elected to the Southern India Regional Council of ICAI for the period 1988 - 1994. She served as its Secretary in 1992-93. Mrs. Bhansali was the first lady and youngest ever to be elected to the Central Council of ICAI for the term 1994-97. She has served on various committees of ICAI including the Examination Committee, Editorial Board, Board of Studies, CPE, Expert Advisory Committee, Public Relations Committee etc during the term of the Council and as a co-opted member thereafter. She was Director of Gilt Securities Trading Corporation Ltd (Subsidiary of Canara Bank) and Chairman of its Audit Committee for 6 years (1998-2003) She has presented many papers and chaired sessions in various seminars organized by ICAI and other bodies. She was the Honorary Secretary of the Coimbatore Management Association, a body affiliated to the All India Management Association. She is a Committee member of the Auditors Association of Southern India, Coimbatore. She has also been invited to be on the Governing Council of KURAL – a citizen’s initiative focusing on the development of Coimbatore - Currently Hony. Treasurer of KURAL. On March 8th 2009 – Being the International Women Day, the President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, had constituted an ICAI Women CA Steering Group. Mrs. Priya Bhansali was its First National Convener for the year 2009-10. Currently she has been co-opted in the Committee of Information Technology of ICAI She is interested in sports and music
